The Philadelphia Eagles dominated the Chiefs 40-22 in Sunday's Super Bowl in New Orleans to deny Kansas City in their bid for a third consecutive title and exact brutal revenge for their loss to the team in the NFL title game two years ago. The Eagles bullied the Chiefs behind a defensive effort that overwhelmed Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, culminating with a strip sack with less than 10 minutes to play that ended any hopes of a comeback.
The win also spelled sweet revenge for the Eagles after their heartbreaking 38-35 defeat to the Chiefs in Phoenix two years ago. It was the Eagles' second Super Bowl title after they beat the New England Patriots in 2018 and it played out before a sold-out crowd that included US President Donald Trump, pop superstar Taylor Swift and a bevy of other A-list celebrities. It marked the first time a sitting president had attended a Super Bowl and Trump watched the first half of the game at the Superdome before leaving.
In addition legendary tennis player Serena Williams left the fans delighted with a surprise dance performance. Williams made an appearance during Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl LIX halftime show.
Lamar performed his popular number ‘Not Like Us’, as the tennis legend danced to it, the videos of which has gone viral on social media. The rapper also mentioned Williams in the song as he said: “From Alondra down to Central, better not speak on Serena.”
Taylor Switf booed
Taylor Swift was also present at the Super Bowl to support her boyfriend Travis Kelce, who plays for Kansas City Chiefs. However, when the jumbotron flashed her visuals, the reactions were not at all supportive. The artist was heavily booed by the Eagles supporter gathered at the Superdome. The incident took place during a break in the first quarter.
Swift was seated beside rapper Ice Spice and wrinkled her nose while reacting to the shocking reception.
Serena Williams also took note of the crowd's behaviour towards Swift and was quick to extend her support. "I love you Taylor Swift, dont listen to those booo!!" the 23-time Grand Slam winner wrote on X.
