The much-awaited showdown between Neeraj Chopra and Arshad Nadeem at the upcoming World Athletics Championships will not take place during the qualification round on Wednesday, September 17, as the two star javelin throwers have been placed in separate groups.

However, this does not rule out a face-off altogether. Both athletes are strong contenders to advance, raising hopes of a thrilling title clash in the final scheduled for Thursday.

Neeraj has been assigned to Group A, which also includes Julian Weber of Germany (a Diamond League winner), Keshorn Walcott (2012 Olympic champion), Czech veteran Jakub Vadlejch, and fellow Indian thrower Sachin Yadav.

Group B will feature Nadeem alongside Anderson Peters from Grenada (a two-time world champion), Julius Yego (2015 world champion), Luiz da Silva from Brazil, and the Indian duo of Rohit Yadav and Yashvir Singh, along with Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage from Sri Lanka.
