Star athletes of Paris Olympics 2024 and Paris Paralympics 2024 participated in the ninth season of News 18 India's conclave 'Chaupal'. Medal winners spoke their hearts out in the first session of this event. Manu Bhaker, Sarabjot, Swapnil, who won bronze in the Olympics, hockey team goalkeeper Sreejesh, Navdeep Singh, who won gold in the Paralympics, also participated in the event.
Manu Bhaker kicked-off the show in a unique dimension by talking about the bad phase. Manu said, "In bad phase there is a lot of trouble so one has to be patient. I have to go back to my range. When I met Sachin Tendulkar and Amitabh Bachchan sir, it was like an inspiration for me.”
Manu Bhaker also highlighted that listening to music is her stress buster and keeps her grounded. It also helps her in the shooting range. The Olympic medallist denied any plans to join films as her focus is on shooting only.
Medallist Swapnil said, “The dream is not complete yet. Bronze is here but the dream has not come true. I just need to change the colour of the medal. This is not only my medal; it belongs to everyone."
Sarabjot who accompanied him said that he is waiting to get offers in Punjabi films. I am still not satisfied. We will definitely change the colour of medals in coming Games ahead.
Hockey team goalkeeper R Sreejesh said, “Olympics is an event which is followed by the whole world. Everyone said that I can play for a few more years. But I felt this was the right time for me to retire. Abusing is not a dirty thing. Because there is a motivation. On the field you just think about winning.”
Navdeep Singh, who was recently in the news, said that I could not believe that I had done this. Many people have played a role in getting me here. I will not take the name of any one person. The rest will feel bad. But my parents, the coaching staff have all played a big role.”
Navdeep also said that 'Chak De India' song inspires him to do well for his country.
