With the fight for the Orange Cap—awarded to the top run-scorer—sure to be fierce, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 promises another exciting season. Here are 11 batsmen to keep an eye on as cricket’s top players get ready to display their talents.

Virat Kohli, IPL’s all-time top scorer, dominated 2024 with 741 runs (avg 61.75, SR 154.69). A two-time Orange Cap winner (2016, 2024), including a record 973 runs in 2016, he remains a top contender for IPL 2025.
Ruturaj Gaikwad, CSK’s dependable opener, accumulated 583 runs in IPL 2024 at an average of 53.00 and a strike rate of 141.16. Having won the Orange Cap in 2021, he is well-equipped to challenge for the title again in IPL 2025.

Rishabh Pant, IPL 2025’s most expensive player at Rs 27 crore, is a fearless batter. Despite a modest 2024 (446 runs, avg 20.00, SR 155), his aggressive style and match-winning ability make him a strong Orange Cap contender.

Shreyas Iyer, bought for Rs 26.75 crore in IPL 2025, scored 351 runs in 2024 (avg 39.00, SR 146). Though yet to win an Orange Cap, his ability to anchor and accelerate makes him a strong contender this season.

Jos Buttler, the 2022 Orange Cap winner, is a destructive white-ball batter. Despite a poor IPL 2024 (446 runs, avg 20.00, SR 155), he can single-handedly change games and is expected to bounce back strongly in 2025.

Travis Head, known for his fearless stroke play, has the ability to turn matches in his team’s favor. Though he has not won an Orange Cap before, his explosive batting makes him a dangerous contender for the 2025 season.
