India’s home Test series against South Africa was the last red-ball assignment for a while. The team’s next Test appearance is scheduled for August 2026.

They will travel to Sri Lanka for a two-match series that forms part of the 2025–27 World Test Championship (WTC).

Following the Sri Lanka tour, India will head to New Zealand for another two-Test away series in October–November 2026.

Their next Test series on home soil will only come in January–February 2027, with Australia visiting for a five-match contest. That series will also serve as India’s concluding Test challenge of the current WTC cycle.

India’s WTC 2025–27 journey began with a five-Test tour of England in June, which marked Shubman Gill’s first assignment as Test captain. The series finished level at 2–2.
