Indian pugilist Nupur Sheoran secured gold medal in the 80+kg weight category at the recently concluded World Boxing Cup Finals 2025 in Greater Noida. She secured a 3-2 split decision victory over Uzbekistan boxer Sotimboeva Oltinoy in the finals.
The 27-year-old was mocked for her remarks after returning with a silver medal from the World Championships held in Liverpool earlier this year. Nupur had then declared that she would "turn her silver into gold", the video of which went viral and many people labeled her as overconfident.

After bagging gold in the latest event, Nupur was quick to address the trolling she encountered.
Speaking to reporters at the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex, the venue of the competition, Nupur said: "I was trolled over a video in which I had said that I had just received a silver medal and I would turn it into gold. I was called overconfident by my own countrymen. I want to tell everyone that until we think about where we need to reach, we won’t be able to get there. So, please stop trolling people for such small things.”
“It affected my mental health. I don’t use social media much, but when I found out that I was being trolled for saying this, I didn’t like it at all," she added.
