Team India ripped apart Bangladesh bowlers in the ongoing Test at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. After a majority of play was lost due to poor weather condition, the proceedings finally began in full throttle on the fourth day of the Test. Bangladesh resumed the proceedings from 107/3 and were folded for 233, following which India walked out to bat in the second session.
Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal gave the hosts a blistering start as India piled up 50 in just three overs. The onslaught continued despite wickets kept tumbling and India soon became the team to slam fastest 100, fastest 150, and fastest 200 in Test cricket.
During this rampage India's talismanic batter Virat Kohli also completed 27,000 international runs, making him the fourth cricketer to achieve the feat. Kohli was eventually dismissed for 47 off 35 balls, a short innings laced with four boundaries and one maximum.
The latest feat by Kohli helped him join an exclusive club featuring Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting and Kumar Sangakkara. Kohli in the process also broke Sachin Tendulkar's record and became the quickest to reach the 27,000-run mark. Kohli took 594 innings to reach the milestone, which is 29 innings lesser than Sachin Tendulkar. The latter had achieved the feat in 623 innings back in 2007.
Meanwhile, former Sri Lanka skipper Sangakkara had achieved the feat in 2015 in his 648th innings, while Ponting scaled the milestone in his 650th outing.
