Shashank Singh's celebratory gesture was a nod to Bollywood icon and Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner Shah Rukh Khan. Shashank's celebratory gesture was scored with a song from SRK’s film 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge'.

In an electrifying Indian Premier League (IPL) match at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, Shashank Singh delivered a spectacular performance, scoring 68 runs from just 28 balls, leading Punjab Kings (PBKS) to an incredible victory against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The match concluded with Punjab achieving the highest successful chase ever recorded in T20 cricket, with 8 wickets and 8 balls to spare.

Shashank Singh hit the winning shot against Ramandeep Singh, marking a historic moment for Punjab Kings. Celebrating the victory, Shashank copied Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic arms-spread pose, a nod to the Bollywood superstar who co-owns the defeated team, Kolkata Knight Riders. This celebration was underscored by the backdrop of the song from Shah Rukh’s film 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge', enhancing the dramatic moment.

The match was a record-setting event with the highest number of sixes ever hit in a T20 format, showcasing the aggressive batting style that defined the game. Jonny Bairstow and Prabhsimran Singh set the stage with a fierce start during the Powerplay, contributing 93 runs for the first wicket. Although Prabhsimran was run out after a fiery 54 from 20 balls, the pace he set helped in building a strong foundation.

For KKR, the only silver lining was Sunil Narine, who, after scoring a quick 50, also took a wicket, made a run-out, and gave away only 24 runs. His all-around performance was a standout, but it was overshadowed by the sheer dominance of the Punjab batsmen.

Earlier in the game, Kolkata had set a formidable target, posting the highest-ever T20 total at Eden Gardens. Contributions came from Sunil Narine and Phil Salt with notable fifties, while Shreyas Iyer and Venkatesh Iyer also made valuable cameos. Despite their high scoring, Punjab’s relentless batting took the game away from Kolkata.

Punjab’s bowlers, notably Arshdeep Singh who picked up two key wickets, and contributions from Sam Curran and Rahul Chahar, played crucial roles in controlling the game, ensuring that the batsmen had a competitive but achievable target.

This match will be remembered not only for the record-breaking chase but also for the memorable celebration by Shashank Singh, echoing the cinematic flair of IPL cricket where sports and entertainment meet dramatically.
