Downpour disrupts KKR's final practice

A sudden downpour disrupted Kolkata Knight Riders' final practice session ahead of Sunday's highly anticipated IPL final against Sunrisers Hyderabad. While the Sunrisers had a day off, the Knight Riders were scheduled to practice in the evening under floodlights.

However, rain began just as the players started their customary warm-up football game, forcing them indoors. Despite this, ground staff successfully covered the fourth pitch designated for the final match.

Although there is no official forecast of rain for Sunday, cloudy skies and low humidity are expected. A minor rain threat remains due to Cyclone Remal in the Bay of Bengal, which may impact Tamil Nadu's capital.

If the IPL final gets washed out, a reserve day is scheduled with favorable weather expected. Should rain interrupt the IPL 2024 finals, the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method will be used to adjust matches. If the game is completely rained out, it will be rescheduled for Monday. If rain persists on the reserve day, the IPL 2024 winner will be determined based on the points table, with Kolkata Knight Riders, currently leading the table, claiming the trophy.

According to forecasts, there is a 47% chance of rain during the day at Chepauk, decreasing to about 32% in the evening. Cricket fans are hoping the evening rain probability will drop even further as the two teams compete to determine the IPL 2024 winner today.
