Among the bowlers, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, and Washington Sundar scalped two wickets each, while Axar Patel and Mohammed Siraj registered one wicket each.
Earlier, India managed to post a challenging 264-9 after Australia won the toss and opted to field. The Men In Blue once again got off to a disappointing start as Shubman Gill fell for run-a-ball 9 against Xavier Bartlett, who then trapped Virat Kohli for a duck in the same over, which was his second of the series.
Rohit Sharma, who escaped a run-out scare with a desperate dive earlier in the innings, helped India rebuild along with Shreyas Iyer. He slammed a 97-ball 73, which featured seven boundaries and a couple of maximums, before losing his wicket to Mitchell Starc. Shortly after Iyer was removed by Adam Zampa for 61(77).
Axar Patel held fort as India lost KL Rahul (11 off 15) and Washington Sundar (12 off 14) cheaply. The all-rounder departed for 44(40) off Zampa's bowling as Mitchell Starc collected a superb catch at long-off. Nitish Reddy also couldn't do much, getting stumped for 8(10), which was Zampa's fourth wicket of the match. The dismissal saw India get reduced to 226/8 in the 45th over, following which Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh added some vital runs on the board. Arshdeep was dismissed for 13(14), while Rana returned unbeaten for 24(18).
The hosts had crushed India by seven wickets as fans witnessed a complete top and middle-order failure in the first ODI at Perth.
