While the buzz is around Ravindra Jadeja and Sanju Samson there is an another development brewing in the backdrop ahead of the much-awaited IPL retentions announcement. As reported by Cricbuzz, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Mumbai Indians (MI) are engaged in talks involving Shardul Thakur and Arjun Tendulkar.
The report further stated that it may not exactly be a trade but rather two separate individual deals. An official announcement on the same can be expected before the November 15 deadline to submit retentions list.
Thakur went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction but was later picked by LSG as a replacement player for his base price of Rs 2 crore. He failed to make any notable contribution with the bat, but had decent returns with the ball as he registered 13 wickets in LSG's unsuccessful campaign.
Tendulkar, on the other hand, has always been part of the Mumbai Indians setup since his introduction in the IPL after being picked for his base price of Rs 20 lakh. He didn't make any appearance in the last edition and was sparsely used by the franchise in the 2023 and 2024 seasons. His overall appearances in all seasons combined is limited to five, in which he managed 13 runs and three scalps.

Tendulkar had switched to Goa from Mumbai in domestic cricket a couple of years ago, and has since featured in 21 first-class matches.
Meanwhile, the dynamic team of Mumbai Indians possess match-winners, which makes it difficult for rookies to break into the playing XI. And at the same time, the franchise has produced a pool of stars for India, with Pandya brothers and Suryakumar Yadav being the best examples. Suryakumar, although has played for Kolkata Knight Riders before it was at MI where he flourished and earned a national call-up. Meanwhile, spinner Vignesh Puthur made significant wavelength as uncapped star with MI in the previous edition.
