During the ongoing Lord’s Test, England’s Ben Duckett seemingly settled scores with India captain Shubman Gill following the latter’s heated exchange with Zak Crawley. Late on Day 4, Duckett delivered a cold sledge that rattled the in-form Gill — and the impact was immediate.

After Karun Nair and KL Rahul's partnership was broken by Brydon Carse, who dismissed the former for 14 off 33, Gill arrived at the crease in the 13th over of India's second innings. A hostile England camp greeted the 25-year-old and quickly reminded him of the third-evening incident in which the Indian players had charged at Crawley, accusing him of wasting time.

A few remarks were mouthed by England players, all of them aimed at the Indian skipper, following the first delivery Gill faced. Duckett then went by him directly across from the backward point and sledged him. "600 runs and he is done for this series. 600 runs is enough for this fella, "as his words were picked up by the stump mic.

After a few deliveries, Carse came back for this third over and beat Gill with a nip-backer, causing the batter to barely move his feet as the ball hit him on the inside edge and hit the knee roll. The umpire declared him out, but Gill was not persuaded after speaking with Rahul and signaling for a review.
