A life-threatening attack on former US president and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump during his rally in Pennsylvania shocked the nation on July 13.

Leaders across party lines strongly condemned the attack on Trump while he was addressing an election rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Canadian President Justin Trudeau posted on X, denouncing political violence. He wrote, "Simply disgusted by the shots aimed at ex-President Trump. We can never say it enough: political violence is never acceptable. My thoughts are with Mr. Trump, those in attendance, and all Americans."

Former president Barack Obama also spoke out, stating, "There is no place for political violence in our democracy. Although we don't yet know exactly what happened, we should all be relieved that former president Trump wasn't seriously hurt and use this moment to recommit ourselves to civility and respect in our politics. Michelle and I are wishing him a quick recovery."

"There's no place in America for this kind of violence. It's sick. It's sick. It's one of the reasons why we have to unite this country... We cannot be like this, we cannot condone this," Joe Biden told reporters in an emergency briefing.

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said on Sunday in a post on X that "we must stand firm against any form of violence that challenges democracy. I pray for former President Trump's speedy recovery."

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he and his wife Sara "were shocked by the apparent attack on President Trump" at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.

Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orban wrote on X: "My thoughts and prayers are with President @realDonaldTrump in these dark hours."

US Secretary of Defense said that the "entire Department of Defense condemns this violence, which has absolutely no place in our democracy." He wrote on X: "...This is not the way that we resolve our differences in America—and it must never be. I’m relieved that reports indicate former President Trump is safe, and I am praying for him and his family and everyone affected by this appalling incident."

Argentina's President Javier Milei blamed the "international left" after the assassination attempt. "In panic of losing at the polls, they resort to terrorism to impose their backward and authoritarian agenda," the populist president wrote on X.

Australian PM Anthony Albanese wrote on X:"The incident at former President Trump's campaign event in Pennsylvania today is concerning and confronting. There is no place for violence in the democratic process. I am relieved to hear reports that former President Trump is now safe."

"Laura and I are grateful that Trump is safe following the cowardly attack on his life. And we commend the men and women of the Secret Service for their speedy response," former president George W Bush said as Americans prayed for his speedy recovery.

Robert F Kennedy posted on X: "Now is the time for every American who loves our country to step back from the division, renounce all violence, and unite in prayer for President Trump and his family."

Trump's son Donald J Trump Jr said, "He will never stop fighting for Trump."
