It is not easy to evade the scrutiny of media especially if you are an important public figure. Turkey’s leader, Recep Tayyip Erdogan learned this lesson the hard way after a footage appeared on social media of him falling asleep during a press conference in Ukraine.
The incident happened during Turkey president’s visit to Ukraine on Monday. As part of the visit, a press conference was held at Kiev in which both Erdogan and his Ukrainian counterpart Petro Poroshenko addressed the media.

However, while his host was addressing the media, a visibly tired Erdogan was seen yawning. Soon the leader fell asleep only to regain his composure and become normal again.
The nodding off repeated many times and on one occasion, Poroshenko was seen tapping at the desk to awaken a sleeping Erdogan. The footage soon appeared on YouTube and became viral on social media.Erdogan’s visit to Ukraine is seen as an important development, as it will have serious effects on the region’s future. Erdogan’s declaration during the talks, that Turkey won’t recognise Russian annexation of Crimea, could further increase the tensions between Moscow and Ankara, who already have locked horns during the Syrian crisis.
