During the presidential debate, Republican Donald Trump accused his rival Kamala Harris of failing to support US ally Israel, asserting that under a Harris presidency, Israel would be "gone."
"She hates Israel. If she's president, I believe that Israel will not exist within two years from now," Trump declared. "Israel will be gone."
In response, the Democratic vice president denied Trump's claim, calling it "absolutely not true" and affirming her longstanding support for Israel throughout her life and career.
In their first and possibly only debate before the November 5 election, Harris and Trump clashed on key issues. The debate, held in Philadelphia, began with Harris disarming Trump by walking over and introducing herself.
