US Election 2020 Results highlights: Results continue to pour in from across the United States. Democratic Party candidate and former vice president Joe Biden is taking on Republican Party’s nominee and incumbent President Donald Trump. California Senator Kamala Harris and Vice President Mike Pence are their respective running mates. Biden is leading Trump in the overall Electoral College vote tally. But, things can change as the margins are narrowing in multiple battleground states. Yet, Trump has moved court in three states over the ballot counting process. Voters were urged to vote early this time, especially through mail-in ballots, to avoid queues amid the coronavirus pandemic. Thus, over 101 million votes were cast and recorded even before the Election Day. Voters had cast about 73.4 percent of the total votes counted in the 2016 presidential election, even before Election Day. But counting of mail ballots is more laborious and that is delaying the result.
Who's ahead in the battleground states (as of 4.00 pm IST):
> Biden has won in Minnesota, Michigan, New Hampshire and Wisconsin. He is leading in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arizona and Nevada with narrow margins.
> Trump has won in Florida, Iowa, Ohio and Texas. He is leading in North Carolina.
Watch out for what happens in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Nevada and Arizona in the next few hours.
US Election 2020 Results LIVE Updates | Donald Trump faces tough road in getting Supreme Court to intervene
Facing the potential for narrow losses in multiple battlegrounds, President Donald Trump might have a tough time persuading the Supreme Court to take up his call to intervene and prevent Joe Biden from becoming president.
Trump could need the court's help in two or more states, an unlikely scenario that is far different from what took place in 2000, the only time the court has effectively settled a presidential election. Twenty years ago, the entire fight was over Florida’s electoral votes and involved a recount as opposed to trying to halt the initial counting of ballots.
Trump's campaign and Republicans already are mounting legal challenges in several states, although most are small-scale lawsuits that do not appear to affect many votes.

"Official sources may not have called the race when this was tweeted," read a message below a post from Democratic Coalition co-founder and podcaster Scott Dworkin using the two titles for Biden and Harris.

But Trump “is wrong to say the election was rigged, corrupt and stolen,″ Romney said on Twitter. Trump’s claim ”damages the cause of freedom here and around the world ... and recklessly inflames destructive and dangerous passions,″ Romney said.

"Even with these states being really close, we might have to go back and recount, so we're in for a long period of uncertainty."

US Election 2020 Results LIVE Updates | What are the paths to victory for Joe Biden and Donald Trump?
Much of the delay has resulted from a flood of mail-in ballots due to the coronavirus pandemic -- and those votes have tended to favor Democrats. If Biden's lead in Arizona holds, and he wins Nevada or Georgia, he would pass the threshold of 270 electoral votes.
Should Trump hold North Carolina and Georgia but lose Arizona, he must take Nevada as well as Pennsylvania to win. Simply winning Pennsylvania will not be enough for the president.
Much to Trump's chagrin, Pennsylvania has decided to allow mailed ballots sent by election day but received up to three days afterwards to be counted. Authorities expect to complete the count by Friday.
Another factor that could keep the battle alive: The Trump campaign has unleashed a legal blitz in key states vital to the incumbent's reelection.

"Of course, individuals have an impact, positive and negative. The sincere friendship between our president and Mr. Trump continued through the most difficult times," Cavusoglu said.
Analysts say Turkey's bilateral ties could suffer if Biden becomes U.S. president. The lira, which is already trading at a record low against the dollar, could come under more pressure. (Reuters)
