Russia-Ukraine News Highlights | Russian Army ordered to broaden Ukraine advance 'from all directions'

Russia-Ukraine News Highlights: At least 198 Ukrainians, including three children, have been killed as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the head of the Ukrainian Health Ministry was quoted by the Interfax news agency.

Russia-Ukraine Crisis Highlights: Air India's first evacuation flight departed from Romanian capital Bucharest on Saturday afternoon and is landed in Mumbai later in the evening with 219 Indian nationals who were stranded in Ukraine due to the ongoing Russian military offensive.

Moreover, at least 198 Ukrainians,

including three children, have been killed as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the head of the Ukrainian Health Ministry was quoted by the Interfax news agency as saying on Saturday. He said 1,115 people were wounded, including 33 children.

Also, French President Emmanuel Macron said that the Russia-Ukraine war, and heavy sanctions that the Western powers have taken against Russia, will have long-lasting and serious consequences for the French farming sector.

"If you ask me to share one conviction with you this morning, it is that this crisis is here to stay, this war is here to stay," Macron told the Paris farm show on Saturday.

Trade restrictions resulting from EU sanctions on Russia will weigh on French exports such as wine and grains, Macron said, while a further rise in energy prices will hit livestock farming.

Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden instructed the U.S. State Department to release $350 million in military aid to Ukraine as it struggles to repulse a Russian invasion. The Netherlands will also supply 200 air defence rockets to Ukraine as quickly as possible, the Dutch government said in a letter to parliament on Saturday.

Amid escalating tensions, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was asked to evacuate Kyiv at the behest of the US government but turned down the offer. Zelenskyy said in response: The fight is here; I need ammunition, not a ride, according to a senior American intelligence official.

After weeks of warnings from Western leaders, Russian President Vladimir Putin unleashed a three-pronged invasion of Ukraine from the north, east and south on Thursday, in an attack that threatened to upend Europe's post-Cold War order.

Russia-Ukraine Conflict LIVE | Norway ski body says Russians not welcome to compete there

Russian skiers are not welcome to compete in Norway because of violations of international law and attacks on the Ukrainian people, the Nordic country's ski federation said Saturday.

Norways call directly contradicts International Ski Federation (FIS) policy announced late Friday and comes days after the winter sport power topped the Beijing Olympics medal table with a record 16 golds. The final men's medal awarded in Beijing saw Russian and Norwegian cross-country skiers share the podium in the Bird's Nest stadium.

The Norwegian plea was also made days before Kvitfjell and Oslo host World Cup races in Alpine and cross-country skiing next weekend and while the country co-hosts the junior world championships in Nordic ski disciplines.

The Norwegian Ski Federations message to Russia and Russian athletes is crystal clear; We do not want your participation! it said in a statement.

Russia-Ukraine Conflict LIVE | Ukraine not refusing to negotiate but not ready for Russian ultimatums: Official

Ukraine on Saturday denied suggestions that it was refusing to negotiate a ceasefire with Russia but said it was also not ready to accept ultimatums or unacceptable conditions.

Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to the office of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, told Reuters Ukraine has prepared a negotiating position but was faced with impractical negotiating conditions from Russia.

“It was yesterday that the aggressive actions of the armed forces of the Russian Federation escalated, up to evening and night mass air and missile strikes on Ukrainian cities,” he said in a message. “We consider such actions only an attempt to break Ukraine and force it to accept categorically unacceptable conditions.”
