A customer in Hyderabad was left shocked and disappointed after he found a dead cockroach in the fish biryani he had ordered from Zomato. The customer shared the incident on Reddit in which the person revealed that the biryani was ordered from Grand Hotel restaurant in the Koti area of city via Zomato and gave a zero out of 10 rating for the restaurant.

"I ordered Fish Biryani from Grand Hotel in Koti, through Zomato and looks like the hotel staff were kind enough to give me some extra protein in the form of a dead cockroach. Would never order from here again. 0/10 (unless you're into eating insects)," the customer wrote and shared photos of the insect in the biryani.

The customer's post, which went viral, saw many comments from Reddit users who slammed the restaurant for not taking more care while preparing food.

"Please complain. Everyday literally hundreds of people eat there. I eat there atleast twice or thrice a month. This is shocking to say the least," one user wrote.

"All the old city legacy restaurants of Hyderabad are hygiene nightmares. Shadab, Bahar, Paradise, Bawarchi, Meridian, etc just makes me feel disgusted. I never suggest these to any of my colleagues or friends visiting Hyderabad," another user wrote.

This is not the first incident in which a dead cockroach has been found in a person's food. The past few years have seen several incidents in which passengers have found insects in food while flying from one location to another.

A passenger found a dead cockroach in his upma while flying in an Air Vistara flight in October 2022. Interestingly, Jet Airways CEO Sanjiv Kapoor later tweeted in supported of the airline and urged the media to check before taking such posts at face value.
