A woman claims she was almost kicked off a Delta Airlines flight because of her outfit. Lisa Archbold told Yahoo News Australia about her distressing conversation with a crew member who reprimanded her for not wearing a bra.
A self-employed DJ, Archbold was travelling from Salt Lake City to San Francisco on January 22 after attending the Sundance film festival when she was subjected to the ‘humiliating’ experience. She claims that after “every single person” had boarded the plane, a crew member “loudly” summoned her to the front of the plane.
The female crew member marched Archbold out of the plane and proceeded to reprimand her for her “offensive” attire, which she deemed as “revealing.”
Archbold says she was wearing a baggy white shirt and pants, and was left shocked by the crew member’s complaint. “After this long speech, she tells me she would allow me to stay on the flight if I put on my jacket,” the DJ told Yahoo News.
“Keep in mind this flight was an hour and a half long so I was not going to be out of my seat again," Lisa added. "So whatever offence she was pretending was happening from my nipples, she had just created that offence again, so it wasn’t logical — it was humiliation.”
Archbold was allowed to board the flight again after she put on her jacket, but the whole experience left her with an unpleasant taste.
While disembarking, she told the male head flight attendant about the incident. “He replied verbatim, 'Our official policy on Delta Airlines is that women must cover up',” she said.
