The affected regions include Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab, where residents are experiencing a combination of biting cold and the adverse effects of a cold wave.
An orange alert for dense fog has been issued for Delhi-NCR on January 21, impacting transportation services. On the preceding day, 11 trains faced delays, affecting flight schedules as well. Passengers are grappling with flight delays and cancellations, attributing these disruptions to widespread fog.
Adding to the weather woes, a forecast predicts the likelihood of dense fog in many North Indian states, including Delhi, UP, Rajasthan, and Bihar on January 21 and 22. Additionally, there is a possibility of light rain in the next 24 hours.
The maximum temperature in Delhi today is expected to reach 18 degrees Celsius, with a minimum temperature of 9 degrees Celsius. The IMD forecast indicates morning fog in Delhi on Sunday, clearing up during the day, yet some areas may experience a cold wave. The cold wave is expected to persist in Madhya Pradesh and Bihar until January 24.
The Meteorological Department warns of a possible cold wave in multiple states, including Delhi, UP, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab, for the next 3 to 4 days. Additionally, fog alerts have been issued for Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir, and Uttarakhand.
Over the last 24 hours, several states, including Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, and Madhya Pradesh, recorded minimum temperatures ranging from 6-10°C. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions to cope with the challenging weather conditions in the coming days.
