The Indian consulate in New York opened its doors to welcome Team India on Tuesday amidst their maiden appearance in the United States for the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. Led by Rohit Sharma, the Men in Blue have already stamped their authority in the tournament, boasting an unblemished record thus far.
Among the attendees was the former CEO of PepsiCo, Indra Nooyi, seated next to cricket legend Virat Kohli – a photo of which became a social media sensation after being shared by a prominent X user Mufaddal Vohra.
“What a pic,” one user commented. “Such a beautiful picture,” wrote another.
At the occasion were also key figures from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), including president Roger Binny, secretary Jay Shah, and vice president Rajeev Shukla. Team India Coach Rahul Dravid was also present.
India has had two consecutive victories over Ireland and Pakistan so far, igniting hopes of a triumphant return home. The Indian squad emerged victorious in encounters against Ireland and Pakistan, clinching victories by eight wickets and six runs, respectively, in Group A clashes.
As the tournament progresses, all eyes are now set on the upcoming showdown between India and tournament co-hosts USA scheduled for Wednesday.
