Four cities from India featured in the 11th edition of the TomTom Traffic Index’s global top 25 list – with Mumbai at the fifth position, Bengaluru at the 10th position, New Delhi at the 11th position, and Pune at the 21st position. The TomTom Traffic Index looks at the traffic congestion situation in various cities in the world.

Mumbai was India’s top and the world’s fifth-most congested city in 2021, as per the latest index. With a congestion level of 62 percent, Instanbul topped the list as the most congested city across the world in 2021.

Mumbai’s congestion level was 53 percent last year, followed by Bengaluru and New Delhi at 48 percent each and Pune at 42 percent, according to the report detailing traffic trends in 404 cities across 58 countries.
