In a response to former Infosys CFO TV Mohandas Pai's recent criticism of Bengaluru's governance and lack of amenities in Andhra Pradesh, Nara Lokesh, General Secretary of the Telugu Desam Party, expressed understanding of the challenges faced by businesses in his state after he pitched MNCs to move to Amaravati.
"Thank you for letting me know your concerns, Sir," Lokesh tweeted. "I completely understand the last five years have been tough, but we’re now focused on rebuilding and moving forward."
Lokesh said that Andhra Pradesh is making "real, tangible progress," particularly in Amaravati, as part of its strategy to regain trust among investors. He asserted, “Our greatest strengths are our people. Telugus have made a name for themselves globally in the IT sector, and there’s an abundance of untapped talent here in our state, eager for new opportunities.”
Addressing concerns about human capital, Lokesh noted that many individuals who previously sought jobs elsewhere are now considering returning to Andhra Pradesh, spurred by the state's commitment to creating "world-class infrastructure" and improved connectivity.
He added, "We’re also conducting a Skill Census in the state and focusing on skill training—every industry that sets a base here will find a pool of talent matching its requirements."
Lokesh reaffirmed the government's dedication to collaboration with stakeholders to transform Andhra Pradesh into a "hub of opportunity, innovation, and progress." He referenced his party boss, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, stating, “Once envisioned Hitech City, where others merely saw a random rock landscape. With him leading the way in AP, we're now a land of endless possibilities.”
He ended his long tweet with: "Once again, I thank you for responding. Shall keep you posted!"

In response to Pai’s tweet, Nara Lokesh, General Secretary of the Telugu Desam Party and MLA from Mangalagiri, extended an olive branch to the beleaguered MNCs, inviting them to consider Andhra Pradesh as a viable alternative.

However, Pai responded with scepticism, noting the need for tangible improvements in Andhra Pradesh to regain investor confidence. “Trust levels in Andhra is low after what Jagan (Mohan Reddy) did. Work has to start visibly in Amaravati to give hope. Human capital is low in Andhra, people from outside will not easily relocate there. Connectivity needs to be improved. Too early, please show progress,” he replied.
