Twinkle Khanna and husband Akshay Kumar were among the high-profile guests at the reopening of Churchill’s Old War Office (OWO) as a luxury hotel in London. The inauguration of The OWO, developed by Hinduja Group, was a glitzy affair attended by British royalty, noted business personalities, celebrities and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak – who found a special mention in Twinkle Khanna’s Instagram post.

In her Instagram post sharing glimpses of the evening at The OWO, Whitehall, Twinkle Khanna said it was a “pretty cool” experience meeting the UK prime minister, although his mother-in-law remained Khanna’s role model. For the uninitiated, Rishi Sunak is married to Akshata Murty, the daughter of Infosys billionaire Narayana Murthy and his wife, author and philanthropist Sudha Murty.

“Sudha Murty remains my hero, but it was pretty cool meeting her son-in-law, the prime minister,” wrote Twinkle Khanna, who is herself a published author.
Khanna’s carousel of photographs shows her and Akshay Kumar posing with Rishi Sunak and Anu Hinduja. She also shared a clip of Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli, who treated guests at the inauguration to a special live performance.

The OWO has been redone by the Hinduja Group in collaboration with Raffles Hotels into a hub of luxury residences, restaurants, spas and a five-star hotel.

According to the Financial Review, the Hinduja Group bought a 250-year lease on the OWO for £350 million in 2016 and spent over six years renovating the historic building. It was inaugurated yesterday by Princess Anne, Princess Royal. Princess Beatrice of York and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi also attended.
