Sania Mirza’s father breaks silence on Shoaib Malik divorce rumours as cricketer marries Sana Javed

Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza had got married in 2010 in Hyderabad and became parents to a baby boy, in October 2018, whom they named Izhaan Mirza Malik.

Former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik surprised the world on Saturday, after he shared photos of his marriage with actor Sana Javed even as rumours about his separation with former Indian tennis star Sania Mirza continued to do the rounds.

Following the revelation, Mirza's father Imran Mirza reacted to the news and referred to the right of a Muslim woman to unilaterally divorce her husband. "It was a khula," Mirza told PTI.

There have been strong rumours since 2022 about differences between Malik and Mirza leading to a split, and they have rarely been seen together in the last couple of years. Just a few days back Malik also unfollowed the Indian star on Instagram. Malik and Mirza had got married in Hyderabad in April 2010 and they used to live in Dubai.

Sana Javed who has starred in a number of hit drama serial and also acted in Pakistani films had married singer Umair Jaiswal in 2020 at a simple ceremony amid the coronavirus pandemic. But, two months earlier, reports about their divorce emerged.

The news of Malik's marriage to Javed came a few days after Mirza had posted a cryptic Instagram story, which indicated a potential divorce with the former Pakistan cricketer.

"Marriage is hard. Divorce is hard. Choose your hard. Obesity is hard. Being fit is hard. Choose your hard. Being in debt is hard. Being financially disciplined is hard. Choose your hard. Communication is hard. Not communicating is hard. Choose your hard. Life will never be easy. It will always be hard. But we can choose our hard. Pick wisely," the post read.

Malik and Mirza had got married in 2010 in Hyderabad and became parents to a baby boy, in October 2018, whom they named Izhaan Mirza Malik.
