Days before the 141st IOC Session in Mumbai, International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach and the Member in India, Nita Ambani, were welcomed by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on October 10.
Nita Ambani has been an IOC Member in India since 2016. What makes the IOC Session even more special is the fact that she also happens to be the first female IOC Member in India.

The IOC session is being held in India after 40 years, the session was last held in 1983 in New Delhi. It was attended by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, who was welcomed by the then IOC President Juan Antonio Samaranch.
India has a history of excelling at the Olympics in 1900 in Paris, Norman Pritchard, the first Indian-born athlete, competed in the Games and won silver in the 200-metre sprint and the 200-metre hurdles race.
Since then India has brought home 35 medals in total from the Olympic Games, including two individual gold medals. One was won by Abhinav Bindra, who is now a member of the IOC Athletes’ Commission and the second one was won by Neeraj Chopra at the Olympic Games held in Tokyo in 2020.
