India's rowing duo of Arjun Lal and Arvind Singh made it through till the semi-finals of the Men's Lightweight Double Sculls. In women's badminton singles, Sindhu won her opening game. : Five years after being forced to withdraw with leg cramps from Rio 2016, CHEN Lijun of the People's Republic of China has been crowned the Olympic champion in the weightlifting men's 67kg event at Tokyo 2020 with a total lift of 332kg. It came down to the final lift, with Chen lifting 187kg - an Olympic record - in the clean and jerk to beat Colombia's Luis Javier Mosquera Lozano by one kilogram. Mosquera took Dilver with a mammoth total lift of 331kg - an Olympic Record before Chen's final attempt. Bronze went to Italy's Mirko Zanni, who despite missing his attempt at 172kg, went on to lift a personal best of 177kg on his final attempt in the clean and jerk for a total lift of 322kg.

: China'sLI Fabin has set a new Olympic Record on his way to clinching gold in the Olympic Weightlifting Men's 61kg at the Tokyo International Forum. Li lifted a total of 313 Kg, setting a new Olympic record.On his second attempt his clean and jerk lift of 172kg - also an Olympic Record - saw the 28-year-old standing with the bar above his head while standing on one leg.Irawan, a three-time Olympic medallist, settled for silver (302kg) while Igor Son of Kazakhstan (294kg) took bronze.Japan's ITOKAZU Yoichi narrowly missed the podium finishing fourth with a total lift of 292kg.

: USA's Lee Kiefer won Gold in the Women's Foil Individual Fencing, beating ROC's Inna Deriglazova.The American mixed attack and defensive work as she came through a tit-for-tat bout with ROC's Inna Deriglazova, the defending Olympic champion, to win gold. Kiefer kept her nose in front of the favourite, finally coming through 15-13, but Deriglazova was mostly only one or two points adrift. There was just one point in it in the women's bronze medal bout with ROC's Larisa Korobeynikova screaming with delight at beating Italy's Alice Volpi. In another tight match, Korobeynikova beat Volpi 15-14.

France’s Romain Cannone won Gold in the Men’s Individual Epee by beating world champion Hungary’s Gergeley Siklosi in the final. The 24-year-old rank outsider, who was making his Olympic debut, took command of the contest from the start by going 2-0 up before world ranked number one, Siklósi, scored a point. The final result was 15-10.
In another major upset of the tournament, Siklósi, 23, beat reigning Olympic champion PARK Sangyoung from the Republic of Korea in the quarterfinals. The final score was 15-12.
The bronze medal match was a close contest on Day 2 of the Games with Reizlin defeating Italy’s Andrea Santarelli 15-12. The pair had battled it out for nearly 18 minutes before the Ukrainian, who also came third in the World Championships, won.

: India's Sathiyan Gnanasekaran lost in Round 2 on the Men's Table Tennis Singles event to Hong Kong's Lam Siu Hang. Hang was won the opening game, but Sathiyan came back strongly to take the next three games and was close to taking the fifth game as well, but Hang fought back valiantly to sneak past in the fifth. India put their best performance in rowing at an Olympics, when the duo of Arjun Lal and Arvind Singh reached the semi-finals of rowing in the Men's Lightweight Double Sculls category. The win came in the repechage round as India finished third behind Poland and Spain. This is the first time India has finished in the Top 12 at rowing. Although a long shot, India now have another shot at a podium finish.
