Sallie Krawcheck, the once most powerful women on Wall Street has had many ups and downs in her career which is perhaps best described in the cover story of Fortune Magazine in 2002. She admitted that all the volatility in her career has taught her how to be a better manager.
Her story on how she was recruited by CitiGroup in 2001 to manage its brokerage business mainly to repair its tainted reputations and then two year later she was appointed CFO of what was world's largest bank Observers say for someone with her level of experience managing a CFO position would have been difficult and certainly it was. In March 2007 Krawcheck was moved out of the CFO's office and was sent back to lead Citi's Wealth Management Division, a very public demotion. What followed were disagreements with the new Citi CEO Vikram Pandit about protecting client money and her eventually divorcing Citi Group. Her tryst with the street didn't end there. Krawcheck was soon heading the Global Wealth Management function at Bank of America, but two years later it was deja vu.
