Shah Rukh Khan emerged as the highest taxpayer among Indian celebrities and Virat Kohli paid the most tax among sports personalities.

Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan has been named the highest taxpayer among Indian celebrities for the year 2024, according to a report by Fortune India. Khan, who enjoyed significant success with his return to the big screen, reportedly paid Rs 92 crore in taxes, placing him at the top of the list.

Following closely behind is actor Vijay, known for his strong fan base in South India, with a tax contribution of Rs 80 crore. Salman Khan, another prominent Bollywood actor, paid Rs 75 crore in taxes.

Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan, despite reducing his film appearances in recent years, ranked fourth with a tax contribution of Rs 71 crore. Cricketer Virat Kohli, who emerged as the highest taxpayer among sportspersons, paid Rs 66 crore, securing the fifth spot.

Other significant contributors include Ajay Devgn, who paid Rs 42 crore in taxes, and Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the former Indian cricket captain, who paid Rs 38 crore, earning him the seventh spot. Actor Ranbir Kapoor followed, with a tax contribution of Rs 36 crore. Meanwhile, both Hrithik Roshan and legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar each paid Rs 28 crore in taxes.

The list also included several other celebrities. Comedian and TV host Kapil Sharma contributed Rs 26 crore, while former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly paid Rs 23 crore. Bollywood actors Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor paid Rs 20 crore and Rs 14 crore, respectively. Southern cinema stars Mohanlal and Allu Arjun also paid Rs 14 crore each, placing them among the top 20 taxpayers. Actors Pankaj Tripathi and Katrina Kaif each contributed Rs 11 crore in taxes.

Aamir Khan, known for his selective film choices, paid Rs 10 crore in taxes, sharing the 21st spot with Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant. Khan was last seen in "Laal Singh Chaddha" in 2022, a remake of "Forrest Gump", alongside Kareena Kapoor and Naga Chaitanya.

Virat Kohli, who remains a dominant figure in Indian cricket, paid the highest taxes among athletes, continuing his lucrative endorsement deals with brands like Puma, Audi, and MRF. Kohli, whose net worth exceeds Rs 1,000 crore, also has business interests, including his fitness brand One8, co-founded with Puma.

Shah Rukh Khan's recent success in 2023 with hits like "Pathaan", "Jawan", and "Dunki" is believed to have significantly boosted his income. The actor is also set to appear in "King", directed by Sujoy Ghosh. His daughter, Suhana Khan, is also expected to star in the film.
