Republic Day 2024 Parade: Timing, tickets, chief guest and where to watch

The Republic Day Parade begins at 9:30 am.

India will be celebrating its 75th Republic Day this year. The day commemorates the occasion when the Constitution of India came into effect on January 26, 1950. Like every year, the day will be marked by celebrations with lots of patriotic fervour across the country.

In the national capital, the Republic Day Parade, featuring regiments of Army, Navy, Air Force, police and paramilitary forces, will be held at the Kartavya Path. Besides this, the annual parade will display India’s defensive prowess, showcasing the latest missiles, aircraft, and weapon systems.

On Republic Day, the President unfurls the national flag at the iconic India Gate. On this day, the nation also pays tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives to safeguard the country.

The Republic Day Parade begins at 9:30 am. The ceremony starts with the President unfurling the national flag.

To purchase tickets online, you have to register at the official website aamantran.mod.gov.in. For registration, enter your full name, valid Email ID and phone number, among other details. You will receive an OTP on your mobile number. Complete the registration using the OTP.

Once the registration process is complete, you will have to pick the occasion of your choice. These include options like FDR-Republic Day Parade, Republic Day Parade, Beating the Retreat Rehearsal, Beating the Retreat-FDR Ceremony and Beating the Retreat. Various ticket options and seat availability will appear on your screen along with the prices.

Tickets can be purchased via offline mode too from January 10 to January 25. For this, you will have to visit the counters of India Tourism Development Corporation (IDTC) and Delhi Tourism Development Corporation (DTDC). Tickets are also available at the Parliament House Reception Office and the government tourist office in Janpath, Delhi, during specific hours.

Republic Day 2024 Parade: Chief Guest

French President Emmanuel Macron will be the chief guest at the Republic Day 2024 celebrations.

“As strategic partners, India and France share a high degree of convergence on a range of regional and global issues. This year, we are celebrating the 25th anniversary of the India-France strategic partnership. The Prime Minister was the guest of honour at the Bastille Day Parade held on 14 July 2023 in Paris. President Macron visited India for the G-20 Summit on 9-10 September 2023,” read a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs.

The Republic Day 2024 Parade will be aired on Doordarshan. The event will also be live-streamed on its official YouTube channel.
