Pizza Hut has tied up with a century-old restaurant in Hong Kong to offer its customers a special delicacy -- snake pizza. The 9-inch pizza is on sale until November 22.
Partnering with Ser Wong Fun restaurant -- best known for its snake dishes -- is being seen as the American company's marketing plot to generate buzz online, CNN reported. The pizzas are priced at about Rs 2,000.
One of the advertisements for the "snake soup pizza" listed snake meat, lemongrass, cheese, dried tangerine peels, bamboo shoots, chrysanthemums, "shredded fungus", and chicken as its ingredients.
In an Instagram post announcing the launch of the snake pizza, the Hong Kong franchise of Pizza Hut called it "must-eat items for autumn and winter!"
Snake soup is typically made with two types of snakes -- python and water snake. As per a report in The HK Hub, the snake meat is shredded and boiled with other ingredients such as chicken, pork bone, lean meat, fish maw, mushrooms, ginger, lemongrass, and spices before being stewed and seasoned with salt, pepper, and soy sauce.
The meat from snakes is believed to have medicinal properties and apparently keeps skin healthy, improves blood circulation, and keeps the body warm in cold climates.
