Goyal was arrested on September 1, 2023 by the ED which claimed that the 74-year-old had laundered money and siphoned off loans amounting to Rs 538.62 crore, which had been given to the airline carrier by Canara Bank.

Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal informed a special court on Friday that the Mumbai-based JJ Hospital's medical report confirmed a diagnosis of malignant growths in the 74-year-old's body and sought an interim bail on medical grounds, an Indian Express report said.

"The accused has a right to be treated in a private hospital. He is in the twilight years of his life, and he deserves to get the treatment of his choice," the lawyer said.

The lawyer sought for a six-month medical bail for Goyal, who required medical treatment and a clean environment to recover after undergoing chemotherapy.
