Mohandas Pai gets refund a day after filing income tax returns: 'Globally best in class'

Former Infosys CFO TV Mohandas Pai has praised the Income Tax Department for its swift and efficient service in processing tax refunds. In a tweet, Pai shared his satisfaction with the system, stating that he had filed his return the previous day and had already received the refund.

"Fantastic work by @IncomeTaxIndia. Return filed yesterday, refund received! Globally best in class. Thanks much @IncomeTaxIndia @nsitharaman @FinMinIndia @narendramodi @PMOIndia. This is truly amazing! Great taxpayers service," Pai wrote.

The Income Tax Department, responding to the appreciation, tweeted back to Mohandas Pai, "Thank you for your valuable feedback."

The quick turnaround in refunds has been chronicled by innumerable tax payers who have expressed satisfaction with timely and fast refunds.

One user commented: “A few years ago, I had to pay capital gains tax on my sale proceeds. Paying tax was a breeze and I never ever received any trivial questions from the authorities.”

In the comments, several users, however, pointed out that they still have not received their refunds. To all queries, the Income Tax department promptly responded, asking for details to resolve the issue.

“Please write to us with your details (along with PAN & your mobile number) via email at orm@cpc.incometax.gov.in so that our team can get in touch with you,” they wrote to dissatisfied users.

Some users expressed scepticism. “True. India's income tax portal has evolved to be the best in class. However, I guess, you were lucky because of your status.”
