Aiming for 15 cash & carry outlets in next three years: CP Group

The company plans to set up 15 outlets in the next three years, in cash & carry segment, said Tanit Chearavanont MD, CP Wholesale India.

After Metro Cash and Carry and Walmart, Thailand's largest business conglomerate, the USD 50 billion dollar The Charoen Pokphand Group (CP Group) has announced its India entry into the domestic retail sector. The company's retail arm in India has been branded as Lots Wholesale Solutions and it will focus solely on cash and carry business.

The company plans to invest Rs 1,000 crore in the cash and carry business for the first five years and would be setting up 15 outlets in the next three years.

Talking about food retail, Tanit Chearavanont MD, CP Wholesale India said if the government does revisit the definition of what food entails – for example if government considers household and personal care (HPC) as part of food then from group perspective then the group would be interested in investing in India through B2C food retail route.
