A man named Gajender Yadav faced a distressing ordeal when he discovered live worms in a carton of Amul high-protein buttermilk he had purchased online. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Yadav expressed his frustration and criticised the dairy giant for the appalling state of their product.
“I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction after discovering worms in the buttermilk I purchased recently,” Yadav posted, sharing photos and videos as evidence. The footage revealed white worms crawling on the carton and spilled buttermilk. "I have always trusted @Amul_Coop for its commitment to quality, which is why this incident is particularly troubling," he wrote. "It has not only ruined my experience but also made me question the integrity of your production and packaging processes."
“Almost half of the packets were opened or torn, and the buttermilk was already rotten with an extremely bad smell,” Yadav further wrote, urging Amul to take immediate action.
In his post, Yadav included screenshots of an email he sent to Amul, demanding they collect the evidence for testing. “I don’t want any false accusation from @Amul_Coop later,” he asserted.
In an update, Yadav mentioned that Amul had apologised for the incident. He added that Amul Kanpur was sending someone to resolve the issue and promised a refund. Although they offered to replace the product, Yadav declined and was asked to dispose of the infested boxes. "For your information ORDER WAS DELIVERED IN 10 DAYS...my question is why they took so much time...why this situation arise...who will be responsible if something happens to the customer because of their negligence?" the architect questioned.
In another update, he received a call from Amul’s Gujarat Head Office. “They are sorry for the incident. They have checked the timeline, and as per them, this happened because of a delay from their logistics team/partner. They have assured me that they are taking this incident very seriously,” he shared.
Yadav advised Amul to ensure dairy products are delivered within three days, emphasising that delays harm the brand’s reputation. "They have assured me they will pass on the feedback and will surely work on this," he wrote while concluding.
The post has gone viral since with close to five lakh views and a plethora of comments from X users.
"Packaged dairy sent by mail is generally not a great service to subscribe to," a user stated.
Another user remarked, "OMG mine just came yesterday and I had 2 servings. This is extremely concerning."
"This is alarming. I have been ordering from their website, haven’t faced this issue. Are the products also impacted?" a third user questioned.
