The nearly-production ready compact SUV is expected to be named either the Tusker or the Trailster.
Days after Kia’s upcoming compact SUV was spotted in Mumbai, the Korean automobile manufacturer officially released sketches of the SP Concept based car. Codenamed the SP2i, the car will mark Kia’s debut in the Indian market.
The nearly-production ready compact SUV is expected to be named either the Tusker or the Trailster. The sketches revealed by the company show that Kia tried to stay as true to the concept as possible. It has retained the tiger-nose grille flanked by extended LED bands. The bumper also stays true to its design with vertically stacked fog lamps along with a skid plate.
The sketches indicate that the SUV will have a wide posterior, which could be wider and larger than the Hyundai Creta. It is also expected to get a split tail lamp setup with LED lights. The lower portion sports dual faux exhausts lined with chrome accents. The rear bumper gets a skid plate as well.
Spy shots reveal that the car will stand on 17-inch, machine-cut, multi-spoke alloy wheels, with disc brake on all four wheels. The car will be available with a 1.5-litre, petrol or diesel option upon launch. The company has confirmed that the engines will be BSVI compliant.
The car is expected to be launched by September 2019 and will be pitted against the likes of Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki S-Cross and Renault Duster among others. It is expected to be priced between Rs. 10-16 lakh (ex-showroom).All images sourced from Kia news center. The Great Diwali Discount!
