An 18-year-old from Kerala modified a humble Maruti 800 car into a mini Rolls Royce lookalike at his home. The automobile enthusiast, identified as only Hadif, said the entire customisation cost him Rs 45,000.
Speaking to the host of a YouTube channel Tricks Tube, Hadif said that he has a soft corner for cars and likes to make replicas of luxurious cars and added that he created the Rolls Royce-inspired logo for his car by himself.
The video which has amassed close to 3 lakh views in five days shows the modified Maruti 800 tweaked to have larger grills, a massive bonnet, a redesigned bumper, better interiors, LED DRLs, and a paint job. Hadif also shared that he got the car bonnet -- which reads ‘Spirit Of Ecstasy’ -- made by a local artist.
This, however, isn't the only vehicle that Hadif has tinkered with. Previously, he had worked on a Jeep project, using a motorcycle engine.
In the video, the teenager said that he modifies the vehicles at his home and admitted that he likes the attention his creations get when out on the road.
In a related incident, a Mathematics teacher from Srinagar built a solar-powered car from scratch. The car has solar panels on its bonnet, boot, and even the windows. It also has gullwing doors to take care of the space constraints.
It took Bilal Ahmed 11 years of research and hard work because he did not get the financial support he needed.
"No one provided me with any financial assistance. If I had got the necessary support, perhaps I would have become Elon Musk of Kashmir," he told the India Times.
Ahmed soon caught Mahindra Group chairperson Anand Mahindra's eye who offered him help and directed the company's team at Mahindra Research Valley can work alongside him and further develop the vehicle.
"Bilal’s passion is commendable. I applaud his single-handedly developing this prototype. Clearly, the design needs to evolve into a production-friendly version. Perhaps our team at Mahindra Research Valley can work alongside him to develop it further," Mahindra had tweeted tagging Velu Mahindra, the president of automotive technology at Mahindra.
