Kamal Haasan recently highlighted how kids in the US have been using Replit to make AI write codes, prompting the schools to block the platform from their devices. The veteran actor was talking about how quickly kids have been picking up the advancements in science and technology when he made the comment.
The reaction prompted a response from Replit's CEO Amjad Masad who said he was honoured that Haasan was aware of the company and its contribution to AI.
"Wow, Kamal Haasan knows about Replit, me, and our story and promotes it to a large audience. I'm so honored!" he wrote on X, along with a clip of the event. In it, Hasaan said, "A particular guy has come up with a coding programme that's banned in American schools because the children are excelling in coding... that's called Replit.com and it's run by Masad... Javed Masad or something, and it's fantastic!"
When asked how he knew of Haasan, Masad said, "We watched Indian movies back in Jordan. Bollywood was especially popular."
The exchange amused X users.

Masad has stated multiple times that earning to code is now pointless as AI rapidly progresses towards full automation of coding tasks. Instead, he advised people to focus on problem-solving and creativity, which he believes will remain valuable skills in an AI-driven world.
“I no longer think you should learn to code,” the Replit CEO said last month. He, however, did not dismiss coding entirely, acknowledging that a basic understanding of programming could still be useful. He encouraged people to develop fundamental skills such as logical thinking, problem breakdown, and clear communication—abilities that would remain relevant even if AI eventually rendered traditional coding obsolete.
“I would say kind of learn a bit of coding. I would say learn how to think, learn how to break down problems, right? Learn how to communicate clearly, as you would with humans, but also with machines,” he added.
