A man’s life was nearly cut short just moments after securing a £3.2 million (Rs 33.87 crore) jackpot at Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands Casino. The winner's euphoria rapidly turned into a life-threatening ordeal, camera footage shows, when he collapsed from a heart attack mere seconds after his celebration.
The distressing footage shows the man initially revelling in his win, punching the air in sheer joy. However, the scene quickly shifted as he fell to the floor, motionless. Panic ensued among onlookers and staff, who sprang into action to save his life.
A woman accompanying the man became visibly concerned, her frantic pleas for help echoing through the casino. The staff's swift response and attempts to resuscitate him were met with tense anticipation from the crowd. Against the odds, the man was revived on the casino floor and rushed to the hospital, where he is currently recovering.
The incident occurred on June 22, leaving many witnesses shaken. Marina Bay Sands Casino, a prominent landmark in Singapore’s Central Business District, is no stranger to high-stakes drama. Owned by Las Vegas Sands, the casino has seen its share of remarkable wins and unexpected tragedies.
In 2002, a man in Atlantic City suffered a fatal heart attack moments after winning an £8,000 jackpot. Similarly, in April, another man experienced a cardiac arrest at a Las Vegas blackjack table, later dying from complications.
Experts warn that sudden surges of adrenaline and excitement can pose significant health risks, especially for those with pre-existing conditions.
