French techie funds his wedding by selling ad space on his suit, features logos from 26 startups

Dagobert Renouf had earlier announced, in July, that he planned to offset his wedding expenses by selling advertising slots on his tuxedo. True to his word, he collaborated with a tailor to redesign his suit jacket, which was eventually stitched with patches representing the startups that had purchased space.

A French entrepreneur found an unconventional way to finance his wedding—by transforming his tuxedo into a display of startup sponsorships. Dagobert Renouf, a salesman from Lille, turned his wedding suit into what could only be described as a wearable showcase of the tech industry, featuring logos from dozens of companies that paid to advertise on it.

Renouf had earlier announced, in July, that he planned to offset his wedding expenses by selling advertising slots on his tuxedo. True to his word, he collaborated with a tailor to redesign his suit jacket, which was eventually stitched with patches representing the startups that had purchased space.

In total, twenty-six companies participated in the initiative. The list included firms from across sectors such as artificial intelligence, SaaS, and software tools. Renouf’s own employer, CompAi, was among the contributors.

Renouf’s online profiles describe him as a software engineer who later transitioned into entrepreneurship. On LinkedIn, he detailed his previous experience of spending five years and more than $100,000 to build a startup from the ground up—an effort that he said eventually led to “massive burnout.”

Meanwhile, the idea of linking personal milestones to branding has surfaced before among entrepreneurs, Renouf’s approach stood out for its scale and attention to detail. Each patch on his suit served as an emblem of the companies that supported the couple’s event, effectively turning his wedding day into a collaborative showcase for the tech community.

"This is so damn funny and cool," a user wrote after Renouf's pictures went viral. Another user commented, "Congratulations! Also props to the tailor. The logos are all very visible!"

"You're a mad man, I love it. Congrats buddy I hope you two have a thousand lifetimes of happiness together," a user quipped.
