From gripping dramas to reality shows, to sci-fi adventures and side-splitting comedies, January will see highly anticipated films, some docuseries and many series make their digital debut. Also this month is the much-awaited Golden Globe Awards 2024, among other awards telecast. Here’s what to look out for:
Hi Nanna, Netflix, January 4
A touching story about a single father and a woman who saves his six-year-old, this Telugu movie stars Nani and Mrunal Thakur.
Conjuring Kannappan, Netflix, January 5
This horror comedy written by Selvin Raj Xavier is his directorial debut. Starring film stars Sathish and Regina Cassandra, alongside Nassar, Anandaraj, Saranya Ponvannan, VTV Ganesh, and Redin Kingsley this released in theatres last year.
Meg 2 — The Trench, Jio Cinema, January 5
This thrilling action adventure sequel starring Jason Statham, follows researchers as they try to fight with enormous prehistoric sharks.
Gyeongseong Creature Part 2, Netflix, January 5
Back with a new season, this K-drama series picks up right where the previous instalment ended and is about a battle with a creature that was created out of human greed.
Cubicles Season 3, SonyLIV, January 6
Into its third season, this comedy drama series stars Abhishek Chauhan as Piyush who is promoted to the post of team leader.
The Legend Of Hanuman Season 3, Disney+ Hotstar, January 12
Much-appreciated for its content, storytelling and well-done animation and special effects this season continues the epic tale. It has Hanuman explain how Ravan and Vanar, though made of same letters yet have a profound difference.
Death And Other Details, Hulu, January 16
This 10-episode murder mystery series created by Mike Weiss and Heidi Cole McAdams, stars Mandy Patinkin and Violett Beane and is about solving a murder abroad a cruise ship.
American Nightmare, Netflix, January 17
This documentary series is on the lines of true-life Gone Girl and is about a home invasion, the kidnapper and the kidnapee walking back home. The police find it hard to believe the couple's recounting of the events.
The Curse, Lionsgate Play, January 19
Starring Emma Stone, Nathan Fielder, Benny Safdie, Barkhad Abdi, Constance Shulman, and Corbin Bernsen, this comedy drama series is a unique blend of genre-bending comedy, mystery and reality. The last two episodes release on January 19.

29th Critics Choice Awards, Lionsgate Play, January 15, 5.30 am
This show presented annually by the American Canadian Critics Choice Association to honor the finest in cinematic achievement, will be hosted by comedian and actress Chelsea Handler.
75th Primetime Emmy Awards, Lionsgate Play, January 16, 6.30am
As the Emmy Awards celebrates its 75th Anniversary, the show will broadcast Live from the Peacock Theater and will be hosted by renowned actor and comedian Anthony Anderson.
