After the dhamaka that Jawan brought in September to theatres, October was a little Thanda with not many movies managing to set the cash registers ringing. That might change in the coming month with some big-ticket motion pictures set to release. Here’s a glimpse of the Bollywood and Hollywood offerings in theatres in November:
UT 69 (Hindi) - November 3
It is not very often that someone stars in their own biopic, but then Raj Kundra is not really an actor, although he is making his debut as one in his biopic UT 69. In 2021, the businessman, also Shilpa Shetty’s husband, had got embroiled in a porn case and was arrested and spent some time in Arthur Road jail. The movie delves into his life and his days behind the bars. In some interviews, he has mentioned how much it hurts when people refer to him as ‘porn king’ and that his wife suggested he go ahead with the movie in order to explain, and not complain. The film has been directed by Shahnawaz Ali.
Aankh Micholi (Hindi) – November 3
Laughter, drama and emotions are dialled up in director Umesh Shukla’s film which has some hilarious moments thanks to the two mismatched families that are coming together for a wedding. Mrunal Thakur is a girl looking to marry but her night blindness comes in the way each time. Her family, headed by her father played by Paresh Rawal, hide her illness from Abhimanyu Dassani and his family, resulting in some crazy moments. Sharman Joshi and Abhishek Bannerjee are part of the ensemble cast.
Three of Us (Hindi) – November 3
A story of hope, healing and love, Three of Us stars Shefali Shah, Jaideep Ahlawat and Swanand Kirkire and has been directed by Avinash Arun Dhaware. The film was on the list of 25 films chosen for Indian Panorama 2022 at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) last year. Eight years after directing the acclaimed Marathi film Killa, Dhaware made this film inspired by the Konkan region where he stayed for three or four years. Shah plays a patient suffering from dementia who travels to her native place and meets her childhood love, played by Ahlawat.
The Marvels (English) – November 10
A sequel to 2019’s Captain Marvel, the upcoming American superhero movie is generating a lot of buzz especially on social media. There are speculations galore about Seo-jun Park’s role in the movie, and also whether this film’s ending will lead to Deadpool 3 and eventually an Avengers film. Brie Larson who returns to her iconic role as Captain Marvel has been quoted as saying that “she’s completely owning her power” in this film. The film will also be released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
Tiger 3 (Hindi) – November 12
The fifth installment in the YRF spy universe, Tiger 3 stars Salman Khan as the OG RAW agent Avinash Singh Rathore after Ek Tha Tiger (2012) and Tiger Zinda Hai (2017). The Diwali release is directed by Maneesh Sharma and also stars Katrina Kaif and Emraan Hashmi. One of the most expensive projects by YRF, Tiger 3 will continue with Tiger and Zoya’s attempts to keep the country safe from terrorists. After Salman’s much-loved appearance as Tiger in Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan earlier this year, it is now time for SRK to return the favour and fans are eagerly anticipating Pathaan’s cameo in Sallubhai’s film.
The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (English) – November 17
The dystopian science fiction film is a prequel to 2012’s The Hunger Games and is based on the novel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins. Directed by Francis Lawrence, the film depicts the events happening in the world at least 60 years before the original film. Shot in Germany and Poland, the fifth film in the franchise is also reported to be the longest and has a fresh cast led by Tom Blyth and Rachel Zegler. The movie also stars Peter Dinklage and Oscar-winner Viola Davis in pivotal roles. The film depicts how Snow (Blyth) came to be the tyrannical President of Panem.
Khichdi 2: Mission Paanthukistan (Hindi) – November 17
Tiger is not the only one to embark on a secret mission this month; Hansa, Praful and Babuji are also on their own secret mission! The hilarious gang from Khichdi: The Movie (2010) — Supriya Pathak, Anang Desai, JD Majethia, Rajeev Mehta and Kirti Kulhari — return with their shenanigans for yet another adventure and this time, they are joined by Farah Khan, Kiku Sharda and Pratik Gandhi in special appearances.
Farrey (Hindi) – November 24
Salman Khan’s niece Alizeh Agnihotri makes her debut with this film directed by Soumendra Padhi of Netflix’s Jamtara fame. The superstar had announced his niece’s debut film with a funny caption on his social media, suggesting that he had learnt a new ‘F’ word, only to later reveal that he was talking about Farrey. The teaser of the movie shows Alizeh as a student taking part in an exam with lots of twists and turns, leaving the audience with the tagline — ‘a thriller you won’t expect’.
