Amitabh Bachchan, who has been hosting “Kaun Banega Crorepati” (KBC) for the last 23 years, bid an emotional adieu to the show. In a video shared by Sony Television’s official social media handles, Bachchan broke down into tears while hosting the grand finale of the iconic show’s 15th season.

"KBC" aired its last episode with guests such as Sheela Devi, Avinash Bharti, Sharmila Tagore, Vidya Balan and Sara Ali Khan in attendance. As the episode came to an end, a special message from the show’s team was played. “Namaste Amitji, main KBC ka manch hu. 23 years ago a bond was created between you, me and India’s audience. The bond has been inseparable and we would all like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

Next, a compilation of some of most memorable moments featuring the actor played. While watching the clip, Bachchan was overcome with emotions. In the promotional video, the 81-year-old actor was seen teary-eyed while wrapping up the season. “Deviyon aur sajjano, ab hum jaa rahe aur kal se yeh manch ab nahi sajega. Apno se yeh keh pana ki kal se hum yahan nahi aa payenge, na kehne ki himmat hoti aur na kehne ka mann hota hai (Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time to go now. From tomorrow this stage won’t be set. It is difficult to let our loved ones know that from tomorrow we won’t be here),” he said.

“Main Amitabh Bachchan iss daur ke liye, iss manch se akhri baar kehne jaa raha hu, shubhraatri, shubhraatri, shubhraatri,” he concluded with tears in his eyes.

Fans were emotional and moved after watching the actor’s sentimental goodbye and called it an “end of an era”.
