A complain has been lodged with the state Lokayukta against former chairman and another office-bearer of the Ghaziabad municipal corporation alleging misuse of government funds of upto Rs 30 lakh.

Former chairman Suresh Sharma and official Satendra Kumar Tiwari misused funds of the state finance commission by carrying out works in a village out of the jurisdiction of the corporation, complainants Suresh Sharma and Bhupendra Bhardwaj alleged.

They said the office-bearers gave their nod to two construction projects worth Rs 25.76 lakh and around Rs 4.5 lakh in areas outside the purview of the corporation, making it a misuse of government funds. Sharma, however, has denied the allegations, claiming that he will give an appropriate reply to all the charges soon and will come out clean.
