A recent incident in the UK has reignited the debate over littering, particularly among the Indian diaspora abroad. A video shared by Instagram user Anurag Choudhary has gone viral, capturing the shocking sight of empty Chaini Khaini packets littering a once pristine patch of green grass.
The footage serves as a reminder of the global littering crisis, raising questions about individual responsibility towards the environment.
In his video, Choudhary mockingly invites viewers to "Tag your friends who eat Chaini Khaini," highlighting the juxtaposition between a scenic UK landscape and the litter that tarnishes it.
"Bhai main aaj ghum raha tha UK may, kaun kaheta hai UK main kuch nehi milta (Today I was in the UK, who says you don’t get anything in the UK?" he states sarcastically, showcasing the discarded packets of various products, including Chaini Khaini, that he stumbled upon during his exploration.

The video has sparked a wave of reactions online, with comments ranging from outright disgust to sharp criticism of the littering behaviour. One viewer lamented, "So disgusting behaviour," while another remarked, "This video is proof that wherever Indians go, they spoil the environment's beauty."
While some netizens defended their compatriots, saying, "You eat pan masala. It's fine, but at least throw the packet in the dustbin," others were less forgiving.
"Bhai video banane say badhiya uss gandagi ko dustbin may daal atta (Instead of shooting a video, you could have put the trash in the dustbin)," one commenter suggested, prompting him to take individual responsibility towards the environment.
In the UK, under the Environmental Protection Act 1990, local authorities have the power to issue fixed penalty notices for littering offenses, typically ranging from £80 to £150.
Persistent offenders can face prosecution and heavier fines. The UK government has also launched several campaigns, such as Keep Britain Tidy, to raise awareness about the impact of littering on the environment and public health.
