On Tuesday, a TikTok user in the United States went viral after purchasing a foldable house on Amazon for $26,000 which is approximately Rs 21.3 lakh. This comes amid skyrocketing rent and staggering prices of property in the US due to which several people are opting for either tiny houses or even building portable homes.

However, it is safe to say that any new innovation invites a flurry of reactions from all sections. While some people found the foldable house “unbelievable” and “cool”, others were not that impressed. This obviously sparked a debate online and Capitalmind CEO Deepak Shenoy also hopped on to the bandwagon.

Imagining what it would be like if these kind of homes were there in Mumbai, Shenoy wrote on X, "This would retail in Mumbai for at least 5 crores each."

"And you still won't be allowed to cook non veg in them," he added.

Shenoy's reaction triggered an array of reactions from social media users. One user wrote, "Nah much more. You first need land to place it. Show me that first. Maybe 5 crores if you can have it stacked to 10 levels."

Another user commented, "Land price alone constitutes at least 60-70% cost of Mumbai flats."

"Also bachelors are not allowed," a third user remarked.

"I thought it is some kind of joke. But it is really a pre-fabricated house in different sizes," a fourth user added. Another person questioned, "How will they connect water, sewage & electricity pipes?"

Meanwhile, the unique, 380-square-foot structure features “expandable” steel frame, thermal insulation — and sufficient space to be divided into two bedrooms, one living room, a bathroom and a kitchen, New York Post quoted it product page.

The brand name is Zolyndo and the homes come in three different sizes. A 13-by-20-foot structure with a bathroom costs $19,999, while a 15-by-20-foot one retails for $22,999. The $34,999 build is bigger, and comes with a restroom.
