Burglar disguises himself as Amazon worker, steals Rs 29 lakh in cash, jewellery in New York City robbery spree

The latest heist took place on February 28 when the man entered through the window of the house situated in the Sunnyside suburb where the man stole valuables worth $9,000 and $1,800, police officials said.

A burglar disguising himself as an Amazon worker robbed residents of valuables that included cash, jewellery and other items worth $34,705  (approximately Rs 29 lakh) in yet another addition to a robbery spree in New York City which has now stretched over several months, a New York Post report said.

The latest heist took place on February 28 when the man entered through the window of the house situated in the Sunnyside suburb in west New York, where the man stole valuables worth $9,000 in cash and $1,800 of unspecified property, police officials said.

The closed circuit camera footage released by police officials showed the burglar wearing an Amazon vest and entering the house through the front door.

However, one of the victims in the incident-Estrla Islas- said that the burglar entered the house through a bathroom window, searched the closets and the drawers and stole the money that was saved for her 12-year-old daughter. "He took almost like $9,000. $9,000 in cash," Islas told FOX5.

In total, the man stole valuables amounting up to $34,705 in cash, jewellery and other items.

The latest incident is only an addition to a list of robberies the man has committed since January 2023, having specifically targeted regions such as Sunnyside, Astoria and Long Island City.

He is suspected to have been the main protagonist in a series of nine cat burglaries and break-ins during this period. According to Fox News Digital, Amazon are investigating into the matter.
