A man in Bihar has filed a case against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for shocking him and causing him to drop a bucket of milk worth Rs 250, the Times of India reported.
The complainant, Mukesh Kumar, said he was shocked by Gandhi's remarks that the BJP and RSS have captured every single institution, and we are now fighting the BJP, the RSS, and the Indian state itself."
Speaking to the publication, Kumar said, "I was in such a state of shock that my bucket full of five litres of milk, priced at Rs 50 per litre, slipped off my hands. Rahul Gandhi was threatening the sovereignty of the nation."
In his petition, Kumar sought a trial of the Congress leader under various sections including sedition.
During the inauguration of the party’s new headquarters at Kotla Road, New Delhi, Gandhi had said, "Do not think we are fighting a fair fight. There is no fairness in this. If you believe that we are fighting a political organisation called the BJP or the RSS, you have not understood what is going on. The BJP and the RSS have captured every single institution of our country. We are now fighting the BJP, the RSS, and the Indian state itself.”
His comments also led to an FIR being filed against him in Guwahati earlier this week. The complainant claimed that the Congress leader had created "a dangerous narrative that could provoke unrest and separatist sentiments."
Monjit Chetia, the complainant, claimed that Gandhi's remarks were motivated by frustration over repeated electoral failures.
