Bengaluru's popular eatery Rameshwaram Cafe was rocked on Friday, following a low-intensity blast in the food outlet located in Brookefield which left as many as 10 people injured.
Rameshwaram Cafe issued a statement, on behalf of the owners Raghavendra Rao and Divya Raghavendra Rao, following the blast and assured to offer all possible help for those affected by the explosion.
"We are deeply saddened by the unfortunate incident at our Brookefield branch. We are cooperating with the authorities and officials in their investigations."
"Our thoughts are with the injured and their families, and we are offering them all the support, assistance and care they need and praying for their speedy recovery," the statement read.
Rao later said that the explosion took place in an area reserved to wash hands and the material that caused the explosion was kept inside a bag.
"The explosion happened in the area where customers wash their hands. It was nothing in the kitchen that exploded. Something that was kept in a bag exploded," Rao told TV9 news channel.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah confirmed that a bag had been found at the blast site.
"CCTV footage from the cafe is being examined. It has come to be known that someone had left a bag at the cafe. The accused in the incident will be punished," he said.
Initial investigation by the local police have indicated that the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was not only locally sourced but there has been an effort to be a copycat terror module.
