A Bengaluru resident has exposed a potential delivery scam while ordering an iPhone 15 during a Flipkart sale in a now viral Reddit post. The person recounted how they avoided becoming a victim of fraud by recording the entire interaction with the delivery personnel.

According to the post, the Redditor's sister had ordered the iPhone 15 with VIP service, which includes an open box delivery, where the customer can inspect the product before accepting it. However, when the delivery arrived, the person handling the package refused to comply with the open box protocol.

The resident stated that the delivery person, described as "a guy in white," insisted they accept the package as-is, claiming that open box service was not available. Sensing something was off, the resident refused to accept the package and began recording the interaction. The delivery person allegedly panicked, speaking to his accomplices in Kannada, expressing concern over being recorded.

"(He was) telling his partners in crime in Kannada that I have recorded everything and all," the Redditor wrote.

The situation quickly escalated when, within two minutes, another delivery person arrived with a smaller package and agreed to the open box delivery. The buyer checked the product, confirming it was the genuine iPhone 15.

The Reddit user believes the initial delivery person may have been part of a scam and credits the recording for preventing the delivery of a potentially fake or incorrect package.

The post has garnered significant attention, with several Reddit users sharing their own experiences and offering advice on how to handle such situations.

One user pointed out, "Means the original delivery guy was part of the scam. Report to Flipkart with proof videos. If he is not fired, he will pull the scam on someone else."

Many praised the Bengaluru resident’s quick thinking, encouraging others to follow suit. One user wrote, "Kudos to your presence of mind. I keep telling anyone, as soon as something suspicious happens, pull out your phone and start recording."

Others shared their own cautionary tales, with one commenter stating, "Timely post, expecting a similar package. Will record on my end as well."

Flipkart has not yet responded to the incident.

In another shocking case, a 30-year-old Flipkart delivery agent was allegedly killed in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh last week when he went to deliver an Apple iPhone to a customer who was supposed to pay him Rs 1.5 lakh cash on delivery for it, police said.
